Centrally in Hästveda lies the lake Lillasjön with a 2,5 kilometers long and floodlit trail which is diligently used for both walks and jogging. Along the trail there is also an outside gym and a spot for grilling. If you would like to give your dog some exercise there is an off-leash area close to the trail and in connection with that is Hästveda’s homestead park. Hästveda is likely most known for its yearly fair with origins from the 1870s. It always occurs the second Wednesday and Thursday in July. Hundreds of vendors and about 100.00 visitors arrive from near and far. Are you wondering where the name Hästveda comes from? It is an old name compounded by the ancient nordic word viðr, which means forest or woods. As early as the year 1145 Hästveda was mentioned for the first time in written sources. It was at that time spelled Hestiwite.
